Cody Carter

Cody Carter

Although music isn't his primary career, Cody Carter is very passionate about playing music that people love. A few months before Cody's dad passed away from a five year battle with cancer, his dad offered up some advice after attending a live performance. "Don't ever stop pursuing this music thing, kid. I think you have something special to share." That pursuit of music is fueled by the birth of his son and daughter and the love that Cody and his dad shared for music.

His most distinct memory is listening to an Alan Jackson cassette tape over and over again, while riding with his dad in his red pickup truck down the highway in Iowa when he was 8 years old. Cody was exposed to a wide spectrum of music, but primarily country and rock 'n roll - from artists like Jackson Browne, The Eagles, and CSNY to Willie Nelson, George Jones and Keith Whitley. It wasn't until the age of 23 that Cody decided to teach himself how to play guitar. He bought an old black guitar because that's what Don Henley played on The Eagles "Hell Freezes Over" tour.

Now a Southern California resident, catch him in the San Diego area playing consistently at the famous Le Papagayo in Leucadia and Carlsbad or The Roxy in Encinitas. Also catch him playing with the band Ramblin' Fever - comprised of Aaron Brownwood (steel guitar), Cheyne Dolly (drums), Aaron Hook (bass). They have residency at Renegade Country Bar in El Cajon and The Barn in Ramona - both great spots for dancing. His set always includes some originals, old songs that shaped his youth and new songs by popular artists.
